Ghanaian social commentator Adwoa Asuama, popularly known as GH Mouthpiece has opened up about how marriage affected her personal ambitions.
She stated that she entered the union earlier than she personally wished to.
Speaking in an interview on Neat FM on November 26, 2025, she disclosed that her marriage was largely influenced by her mother‑in‑law and family, as she had initially planned to pursue other goals before settling down.
“If not for my mother-in-law and my family, I wouldn’t have gotten married. I wasn’t ready to get married because I had plans but they planned my wedding. I had a lot of plans and I didn’t want marriage to delay them,” she said.
According to her, marriage came with unexpected delays, including a major international trip that was meant to advance her personal development.
“Marriage delayed one of my trips, I was supposed to be in US the same year I got married. The trip was for my growth and benefit,” she shared.
GH Mouthpiece also addressed societal pressure on married women to give birth immediately, saying people often ignore the health and personal reasons that can influence such decisions.

“Some people also expect you to give birth after getting married. Medical conditions can also delay getting pregnant and this is something that women don’t have control over. Some also delay in giving birth because they have plans,” she explained.
She condemned the constant trolling and bullying of celebrities over marriage and childbirth, describing it as unfair and emotionally damaging.
“It’s not right for people to ridicule celebrities for not getting married or giving birth. They don’t have the right to question people’s lives just because they’re celebrities,” she said.
Calling for stronger regulations, she urged the creation of laws to protect public figures from online abuse.
“There should be a law that deals with people who bully and troll celebrities on the internet. I know what it takes to be bullied. You will get sleepless nights, wondering where you went wrong,” she noted.
GH Mouthpiece warned that she would not hesitate to defend herself against unwarranted attacks.
“When you try to step on my toes, I will step on you double so that you will feel the bitterness of what you’re trying to feed me,” she added.
