President John Dramani Mahama is expected to receive the Constitutional Review Committee’s report on November 24, 2025.

The eight-member committee, established in January 2025, and chaired by Professor Kwasi Prempeh, was tasked with identifying gaps and challenges in implementing previous constitutional review efforts.

According to a Citinewsroom report, the committee has held extensive engagements with stakeholders to gather a wide range of views and develop practical recommendations to strengthen Ghana’s democratic systems.

Government sources say President Mahama has shown interest in the committee’s findings and the possible actions that may follow.

Professor Prempeh, a Professor of Law and Executive Director of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), leads the team. Other members include: retired Supreme Court Justice and UN Appeal Tribunal member, Justice Sophia Adinyira; former Electoral Commission Chairperson and lawyer, Charlotte Osei; and Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, Professor Kwame Karikari.

The remaining members are Dr Godwin Djokoto, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law; governance and development management expert, Ibrahim Tanko Amadu; Executive Director of Ashesi University’s Centre for Leadership, Dr Esi Ansah; and lawyer and Oil and Gas Consultant, Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya, who serves as Secretary to the committee.

The committee’s main assignment is to examine the gaps and challenges that have affected the implementation of the recommendations from both the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.

As part of its work, the team has engaged key stakeholders to collect views on proposed amendments and will submit actionable proposals aimed at improving democratic governance in Ghana.
