When police answered a 911 call from a panicked woman in the dead of night, they had no idea the horror they were walking into.
Dramatic bodycam footage showed them burst into the darkened home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and find a bedroom door covered in blood.
Illuminated by torchlight in the doorway was a hysterical man wearing only his socks, who quickly darted out of view.
Inside, officers found Hailey Valdez sprawled next to huge puddles of blood, so viciously beaten they initially thought she was dead.
Israel Ortiz, 27, the naked man in the doorway, wailed pathetically as police handcuffed and wrestled him to the ground, then strapped him onto a stretcher when he wouldn’t stop fighting.
He took several minutes to be subdued enough to be taken away, and could be heard screaming in the background that he ‘didn’t do anything to her’ as police attended to Valdez in the bedroom.
Distressed and with her teeth cracked and knocked out, Valdez was barely able to respond as police asked ‘who did this to you?’
Between hysterical crying, she eventually answered: ‘The baby’s dad’. Valdez and Ortiz have a daughter who was born last May.
Valdez explained the horrifying scene to the Daily Mail after Ortiz was shockingly handed a plea deal that gave him only four years in jail for the December 22 attack.

Police burst into the bedroom and were confronted by sex attacker Israel Ortiz, 27, who was naked except for his socks
‘Police go to the bedroom and see blood on the door. They enter finding Isaiah Ortiz naked, wearing only socks, crying over my body,’ she said.
‘I am laying off the bed dripping blood from my head and my eye. I was exposed. No bottoms on and my crop top pushed up exposing my breasts.
‘Officers try to talk to me and it takes me a while to respond. I can’t really speak as I lost two teeth. Isaiah Ortiz punched me until my teeth fell out.’
Paramedics eventually arrived and stabilized Valdez enough to carry her out of the house and rush her to hospital.
‘There’s blood everywhere,’ officers said as they surveyed the empty room. A search of the house found more blood in every room.
Meanwhile, Valdez was taken to Mountain View Medical Hospital where staff had to get every male cop, doctor, and nurse out of the room before they could work on her.
A rape kit found swelling, lacerations, and bruising and she had other bruises on her thighs, legs and around her neck consistent with being choked.
Valdez also suffered a brain bleed and horrific facial trauma from when Ortiz repeatedly punched her.

Gnarly stitches stayed in her head for five months and the scars remain today and the left side of her face is still partially numb.
Valdez said she got home about 10pm from her job serving food at a country club to find Ortiz, an unemployed alcoholic, drinking with his cousin.
Not wanting to deal with him, she and her friend Alleyjoyce Owens went back out to another friend’s house and returned a little after 3.30am when he was asleep.
But when they entered the bedroom, ‘he just woke up in a rage.’
Valdez has no memory of anything that happened after she arrived home, but Owens gave a vivid and shocking description of what happened next.
‘This dude shoots up like a zombie, he’s already naked,’ an officer who interviewed Owens explained to his colleagues in the bodycam footage.
Owens explained in graphic detail how Ortiz immediately grabbed Valdez by her head and started putting her head on his genitals and demanded oral sex, then threw her to the floor when she told him no.

Ortiz bawled like a baby and begged to see his daughter when police tried to interview him in a jail cell
Ortiz claimed his hands were hurt and bloody because he had been punching the wall
Valdez’s friend ran to her car and called police. When she went back to try to save her, she found Ortiz had locked her out.
Police took 10 to 15 minutes to arrive and only realized Valdez was still alive when an officer found a pulse and she regained consciousness.
Ortiz was charged with second-degree rape, aggravated domestic battery, and attempting to escape police custody.
The third charge was from when he fled police outside the hospital after he was examined for injuries he caused to himself while beating Valdez and resisting arrest.
Police shot him with a taser after a short foot chase and he fell onto the footpath and cut his head open, as seen in his mugshot.
Ortiz earlier bawled like a baby and begged to see his daughter when police tried to interview him in a jail cell.
He claimed because he grew up with sisters he would ‘never put a hand on a female, especially her.’ He insisted they had an argument and he went outside, then came back and found her beaten up.
Ortiz claimed his hands were hurt because he was punching the wall: ‘It felt good because the pain in me went into my hands.’

Despite the horrific nature of the crimes, Ortiz will spend only four years behind bars.
Just three days before his September 15 trial, prosecutor Anne Marie Swank accepted a plea deal to drop the rape charge. He wouldn’t even have to register as a sex offender.
‘How can you just let a rapist back out there with a slap on the wrist. As if I am nothing? Like what happened to me was nothing?’ Valdez said.
Valdez said Swank told her the DA’s office took the plea deal because a jury may fail to convict because she was in a relationship with her attacker.
‘It would be hard to convince a jury despite the DNA coming back positive, the rape kit showing all the trauma, the police statements, the witness, all the pictures and evidence… I don’t understand,’ Valdez said.
‘She didn’t even give me a choice, she said it’s her choice.’
Valdez also to this day doesn’t know the extent of Ortiz’s cousin’s involvement. He told police he was asleep and didn’t hear anything.

Scars still visible on Valdez’s head today that may be permanent
Valdez and Ortiz had been dating for about two years before the attack, and she was straining under the load of having to work long hours to pay for everything as Ortiz no longer had a job.
‘I tried to leave him so many times, but he always was just like, “I’m gonna do better” and I’d give him another chance,’ she said.
Valdez had to quit her job as she didn’t want anyone to see her face as it healed.
‘I’d have nightmares just looking at myself,’ she said.
‘I’m trying to move on but I’m really scared for when he gets out, that he’ll come after me or try to take the baby.’
