President John Dramani Mahama surprised students during the 65th anniversary celebration of Ghana National School (Ghanasco) in Tamale.

The event, held on November 22, 2025, saw the president deliver a speech outlining his thoughts and plans for the future of education.

At a point during the celebration, President Mahama, accompanied by Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu and other dignitaries, entered a classroom to interact with students in the middle of a lesson.

The unexpected visit left the students stunned, as many had not anticipated seeing the president in their classroom. They quickly turned back to their work on the board and continued engaging with their teacher.

The president and his entourage were dressed in the blue 65th anniversary Ghanasco cloth, symbolising their support for the school and the celebration.

It is also worth noting that First Lady Lordina Mahama is an alumna of Ghanasco, with the president revealing that he met her there and that their relationship began during their school days.
