The Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, has strongly refuted allegations suggesting he is involved in illegal mining, describing the claims as false, malicious, and completely without merit.

The allegations were made during an interview on Aluta FM (92.1 MHz) on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

The discussion, hosted by Agyaba Kwaku, featured Wendell Yeboah, Head of Mobilisation at Democracy Hub, who alleged that the Minister was engaged in illegal mining activities.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Amoakohene dismissed the claims, emphasising that he has never participated in any form of illegal mining.

He urged the public to disregard the accusation, noting that it was intended to mislead and damage his reputation.

According to the Minister, his legal team has already initiated formal processes to demand evidence from both Mr. Yeboah and Aluta FM.

They are also seeking a retraction and a public apology.

He warned that failure to comply would trigger immediate legal action against the parties involved.

Amoakohene further reaffirmed his commitment to the national fight against illegal mining in the Ashanti Region and across Ghana, stressing that he remains dedicated to serving with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering focus on the public interest.
