Ghanaian hiplife musician and songwriter Justice Amoa, popularly known as Patapaa has expressed disappointment over what he describes as lack of support from Ghanaians during the peak of his hit song `One Corner’.

Speaking during a cooking show on UTV on November 16, 2025, he argued that the Ghanaian music industry missed a major opportunity to dominate the African music scene because they failed to recognize the global potential of his viral sound.

“If Ghanaians had understood me, no one would be close to us in terms of music. We allowed Nigerians to take over `One Corner’ rhythm for their songs,” he lamented.

According to Patapaa, many Nigerian artistes are now riding on the same rhythmic patterns and highlife elements that made `One Corner’ a continental sensation.

“Nigerians are the ones doing the original highlife music. When you listen to their sounds, they use highlife key and `one corner’ rhythm is part,” he said.

He also criticized the current trend where songs get popular on TikTok for a week and quickly fade, blaming it on the industry’s refusal to respect originality.

“People put their songs on TikTok and the song fades away after a week. It’s because they didn’t respect my song one corner,” he noted.

Patapaa disclosed that at the height of his fame, he deliberately carried the Ghana flag to promote the country internationally, but even that effort was met with misconceptions.

“One corner became a hit and people were wondering where I was from. So I started putting Ghana flag around my neck with a white handkerchief around my wrist. But I heard people saying I put charm in the handkerchief but how can I travel with charms?” he added.
