Ghanaian entrepreneur and social media influencer, Aba Dope, has stated that giving birth outside marriage is not a crime.

She emphasised that her decision to have a child despite not being married was intentional and carefully planned.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on November 14, 2025, Aba Dope explained that as she matured, she made personal life choices that suit her journey.

“As you’re growing, things change and you make life decisions. My life decision is, I don’t want to get committed to anyone or thinking of getting married,” she said.

Aba Dope disclosed that she wanted a child because of her busy lifestyle and fear that she might grow older without experiencing motherhood.

“I just wanted a child because I know my capabilities. I’m very hardworking so I might be busy and grow without a child. I calculated my plans very well and I decided to have a child last year,” she noted.

According to her, although she is not against marriage, she has no interest in it.

She mentioned that she is fully supported by her family and is proud of her journey into motherhood.

“I’m not against those who want to get married but for me, I’m not interested. God has blessed me with a child, I’m working and my family members are also supportive. I have a daughter and I don’t intend having another child. I just needed a source of motivation,” she said.

Aba Dope noted that seeing her daughter inspires her to work harder, and her mother plays a major role in helping care for the child while she focuses on her hustle.

She proudly stated that she has no shame in being a mother outside marriage.

“Whenever I see my daughter, it will motivate me to work harder. My mother is helping me take care of my child as I’m out hustling. I’m not shy to say I have a child, I’m so proud that I gave myself that opportunity to experience motherhood,” she shared.

Touching on the father of her child, she clarified that they were never in a romantic relationship. She described him as supportive and responsible.

“When I met my baby daddy, I told him I just wanted a child with him but I didn’t want a committed relationship or him thinking of marriage. I’m capable of taking care of my child. If he decides not to be responsible. We discussed it and he agreed.

“We were never in any relationship, but we are just cool like friends. He liked me because I’m very hardworking so we just connected easily. He is actually responsible and he’s doing his part as a father,” she added.
