    Ghanaian gospel musician Celestine Donkor has shared her candid thoughts on friendship and aging, noting that it becomes difficult to make new friends after age 40.

    In an interview on Okay FM on November 12, 2025, Celestine explained that at 40, people tend to be more cautious and less trusting due to life experiences, making it challenging to form genuine friendships.

    “It’s too late to make friends at age 40 because by then, your trust level is low and you’re wiser now. You don’t easily embrace people like that. It’s a time where you like to be alone because experiences have taught you something,” she said.

    Celestine stated that at that stage in life, everyone already has established circles, making it hard to fit into new social groups.

    “Whoever you have at that age too is coming from somewhere with their friends already, so, it’s not easy for you to just fit in.

    “Choosing a friend is being very intentional about selecting the correct friends you can grow up with because life gets very lean when you’re growing up,” she shared.

    She encouraged younger people to be deliberate about building strong friendships early in life, emphasising that such relationships become valuable in adulthood.

    “This is a very important decision that a young person must learn to seriously pick good friends and grow together with them. At your age, at age 40, you don’t have friends you travel and have fun with to de-stress yourself, them you’ve missed out on that thing,” Celestine added.
