A six-year-old boy has died after suffering a ‘medical episode’ at home – with a woman and teenage girl arrested in connection with his death.

Paramedics called police to a house in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, at around 9am on Monday after the child was found having a ‘medical episode’.

Emergency crews rushed him to hospital, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child and remains in custody.

A 17-year-old girl, held on the same charge, has been released on bail.

Police said a scene guard remains in place as investigations continue.
