Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer, Fatau Dauda, has said that he has acquired the necessary qualifications and experience to perform his role despite criticisms.

He stated that he gained his coaching qualification from the Right to Dream Academy, where he learned extensively to enrich his knowledge.

The former Black Stars goalkeeper also disclosed that he began his professional coaching career in 2022 when he joined the national U-20 team before transitioning to the senior team.

“So I started coaching in 2022 by going to the Right to Dream Academy to learn coaching. Right to Dream is like a university of coaching because they develop coaches and athletes, like Kudus and others. They did a lot for me.

“That’s where I went and I realised being a good footballer doesn’t mean you can be a good coach without learning coaching…Within that time I had the chance to join the Satellites, the under-20s,” he said during an interview with Sporty FM.

Addressing the criticisms, Dauda stressed that his Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer job was earned through competence and not favoritism, as alleged.

“I was there and they called me. So I want people to know that I’m not coaching the national team because of who I was before, like being Fatau Dauda, who played in the national team. It’s because I’m into coaching. I’ve learned and I’m still learning.

“So people shouldn’t feel like I’m coaching the national team just because of my past. It’s not like that. I went to the environment at Right to Dream and I realised that if you want to be a coach, you need to learn,” he emphasised.
