Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer, William Kusi, has provided an update on the court proceedings involving his client and Daddy Lumba’s partner, Odo Broni, as of November 12, 2025.
He confirmed that a trial date has been set, following the conclusion of the case management conference on that day.
Speaking to the media after the hearing, Kusi said that everything is now in place for the trial to begin.
According to him, both sides presented all their documents and evidences to the court. They also submitted their witness lists, with Akosua Serwaa’s side listing four witnesses.
William Kusi also noted that Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu and Odo Broni filed zero and one witness, respectively.
According to him, the judge has scheduled November 17, 2025, for the start of the trial.
“We only came for the case management conference to review the documents everyone provided and see the number of witnesses each side would present. The trial will begin on November 17. I am bringing four witnesses, Abusuapanyin did not file any, and Odo Broni’s lawyer filed for only one witness,” he said.
The case stems from a suit filed by Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, against the singer’s partner Odo Broni, family head Kofi Owusu, and Transitions Funeral Homes, at the Kumasi High Court on October 2, 2025.
In an earlier statement on October 9, Akosua Serwaa explained that she took legal action because she was not consulted in planning her late husband’s funeral and felt her role as his legal spouse was being disregarded.
She added that Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu had repeatedly shown disrespect, including the fact that she learned of her husband’s burial date through social media.
Her lawsuit seeks several remedies, including an injunction on the funeral and a declaration that she is Daddy Lumba’s only legally wedded spouse.
On October 28, the Kumasi High Court dismissed her request for an injunction.
The late singer passed away on July 26, 2025 at the Bank Hospital and his final funeral rite is scheduled for December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
