The family of the late Ghanaian Highlife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has announced a new date for the musician’s final funeral ceremony.

It may be recalled that the late musician’s family had earlier fixed December 6, 2025, as the date of the final funeral rites of the celebrated musician.

Following that announcement, several controversies emerged, involving the Lumba family head, Kofi Owusu, and the musician’s elder sister, Ernestina Fosu, who were summoned before the Saamanhene of the Asantehene’s Traditional Council after Ernestina invoked Otumfuo’s “Ntam Kese” against the family head.

Ernestina Fosu alleged that the family head made major decisions regarding the burial arrangements without her knowledge and excluded her from all funeral preparations. She therefore petitioned the traditional authorities to propose a new date.

She further petitioned that the traditional authorities dissolve the funeral committee, adding that the musician’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, be recognised as the only legitimate widow.

In a recent development, following Kofi Owusu and Ernestina Fosu’s appearance before the Otumfuo Traditional Council on November 10, 2025, a new burial date has been set.

Reports gathered by GhanaWeb indicate that the traditional authorities have ruled December 13, 2025, as the new burial date for the late Daddy Lumba.

The council also directed that the initial funeral committee be dissolved and instructed Ernestina Fosu to investigate the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death.

However, the traditional authorities noted that since the wives of the late musician are currently in court over who should perform the widowhood rites, they cannot pronounce judgment on that matter, urging both parties to allow the courts to decide.
