Portugal national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo has declared that he is the most popular person in the world, more than some globally-recognised leaders.

He emphasised that his fame surpasses that of United States President Donald Trump, whom many consider to be one of the most prominent figures worldwide.

Speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan, the legendary footballer stated that he never imagined becoming so famous when he was younger.

“Do you want to debate who is the most famous person in the world, me or President Donald Trump? I think it’s me. Worldwide, even in that small ice, they know me more than him. In the world, nobody is more famous than me in this generation.

“I never wanted to be famous. At the beginning, I wanted to be successful. I knew from a young age that I would be a star, but I never wanted this level of fame,” he said.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner added that he would love to meet the US President in the near future and have a conversation with him.
