Renowned music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, has revealed that he is yet to receive payment for a jingle he produced for the 2010 Population and Housing Census — a sum of GH¢3,500.

According to Fredyma, despite several follow-ups over the years, the amount remains unpaid.

He is, therefore, appealing to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and help ensure that he finally receives what is rightfully due him.

He made the appeal while speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey in Accra.

The veteran producer explained that he was contracted to produce the official jingle used in promoting the 2010 national census, a project commissioned during the administration of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

However, more than a decade later, he has still not been compensated for his work.

“I did the jingle in good faith to support a national exercise, but up till now, I have not received the agreed payment.

“I’m pleading with President Mahama to help resolve this once and for all,” he appealed.

Fredyma, who has been instrumental in shaping Ghana’s music industry for decades, expressed disappointment that a national project of such significance could leave a creative contributor unpaid.

He reiterated his commitment to national service through music but urged government institutions to respect creative professionals by honouring their financial obligations promptly.
