Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has shared his admiration for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, choosing him over some of football’s greatest tacticians, including Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsène Wenger, José Mourinho, and Carlo Ancelotti.

In a light-hearted moment during Kotoko’s training session, captured in a video shared by 3Sports, the veteran Ghanaian coach took part in a “choose and pick” challenge that pitted legendary managers against each other.

When asked to choose between Pep Guardiola and Arsène Wenger, Zito didn’t hesitate.

“Pep,” he said. The same response followed when he was presented with Pep versus Mourinho, Pep versus Ancelotti, and even Pep versus Ferguson.

In a funny twist, the interviewer then asked him to pick between himself and Pep Guardiola. Zito laughed, briefly stunned, before once again siding with the Manchester City boss.

“Pep, because he is my role model,” he said with a smile.

The moment has since drawn attention online, with fans praising Zito’s open admiration for the Catalan tactician.

Zito will lead Kotoko into the weekend’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

He has often spoken about his belief in structured, possession-based football, an approach not far from Guardiola’s famed philosophy.
