The Accra Sports Stadium will explode into colour and noise as Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak renew their age-old battle on matchday 9 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Both teams head into the Super Clash unbeaten but in contrasting form. Hearts are flying high under new coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, sitting second on the table with 16 points from eight games and already holding a preseason win over Kotoko.
The Porcupines, still reeling from their CAF Confederation Cup exit, have played fewer matches, five in total, winning three and drawing two, and currently sit eighth with 11 points.
Despite the difference in form and position, Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has made it clear that his side will not be intimidated by Hearts’ resurgence. Instead, he plans to exploit the weaknesses in the Phobian team.
“Hearts of Oak and Kotoko, everybody knows how the game is, it’s one of the best and one of the biggest games between the two.
“So, everybody wants to win, just as we are going there with the mindset of winning. It’s like you plan against the best side of your opponent and then capitalise on their weaker side, and so this is what we are doing in short to meet Hearts of Oak,” Zito said.
Zito’s comments underline Kotoko’s tactical focus heading into the tie. The Porcupine Warriors are expected to be compact, patient, and ready to pounce on Hearts’ defensive lapses.
For Hearts, Didi Dramani’s men will look to continue their fluid, possession-based football.
