Philip Kwabena Agyeman Appiah-Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada and a longtime manager of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has denied claims made by the musician’s wife, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and her sister, Ms. Ernestina Brempomaa Fosuh, accusing him of circulating unauthorized funeral invitations.

Speaking in an interview with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, Roman Fada dismissed the allegations as “false and laughable,” saying his recent trip to Kumasi had nothing to do with the funeral.

“I went to Opambour when I travelled to Kumasi. I was there to make arrangements for the one-year anniversary of Akua Donkor,” he explained. “You know I started my radio journey at Radio Mercury before working with Opambour, so he is like everything to me. I visit him whenever I’m in Kumasi. After my visit, he asked about Daddy Lumba’s funeral, and I told him the family says December 6, that’s all I said.”

According to him, Prophet Opambour responded that he would only attend if God permitted, as he doesn’t make such decisions without prayer. “We even joked about Ghana Freedom Party coming to power in 2028,” Roman Fada added. “He prayed for me, and that was all. People are now claiming I’ve been giving out Lumba’s funeral invitations, that’s not true.”

Fada stressed that as an Asante who understands tradition, he would never act outside the authority of the family or the funeral committee. “We all know the matter is in court and also before the traditional authorities. Who am I to share invitations when not even the abusuapanyin nor the funeral committee has printed any?” he questioned. “If anyone claims I have given them an invitation, they should come forward.”

Roman Fada also refuted reports suggesting he had a fallout with Daddy Lumba before the musician’s passing. “I had no issue with Daddy Lumba before he passed on. He loved me like a son, and I still respect him even though he is no more,” he said. “It’s laughable when I see the speculations on social media because none of them is true. Both Lumba and I knew we had no problems, the love we had for each other was real.”

He recounted how close they were, citing past collaborations and moments of trust. “When President Mahama was organizing a program for senior citizens, the invitation came through me and I gave it to Papa. He even asked me what to wear, and I told him a suit would do. When did he ever sack me?” he asked. “He even asked me to complete a contractual deal that actor Wayoosi brought before he died.”

His remarks follow a statement released by the Fosuh family on November 6, 2025, in which they accused Roman Fada of spreading misinformation and acting without authorization. The family stressed that he holds “no legal, moral, or traditional authority” to speak on behalf of the late musician and warned that further misrepresentation could result in legal action.

The funeral of Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, has been at the center of public attention since his passing on July 26, 2025. Although the family initially announced December 6 as the funeral date, the final arrangements remain under dispute in court.

For now, Roman Fada insists he remains innocent of the allegations and continues to honour the memory of the man he once served closely.
