Ghanaian rapper Guru Nkz has raised concerns over escalating cases of sexual deviance among youth, attributing part of the crisis to the widespread availability of pornography in the country.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on November 3, 2025, Guru was asked whether sexual deviance is rampant in Ghana.

He affirmed, noting that the rates were increasing. This, he said, was the motivation behind his song “Ashawo.”

“It’s increasing. We are hearing cases of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases rising. That is why I did my song Ashawo, to warn the youth to stop. It’s not good,” he said.

Guru went on to blame easily accessible pornographic sites as a major contributor, questioning why a porn site ranks among the most visited websites in Ghana while religious and educational portals exist.

“Even in Ghana, pornography consumption is too high. I saw a list where a porn site was one of the most visited sites in the country. Meanwhile, Bible apps and many educational sites are available. Why are they watching porn?” he lamented.

He appealed to the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the relevant minister to step in and block access to such websites, pointing to countries like Dubai as examples of stringent regulation.

“I am calling on those in charge, the NCA and directors who can just block all harmful sites in the country. Other countries do that, Dubai, for example. It’s not something that requires much deliberation; our leaders can shut down all porn sites immediately if they want. They can’t pretend they aren’t seeing it. It means they don’t have the willpower,” he said.
