FC Metz defender Terry Yegbe has set sights on making the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup tournament to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Yegbe, who switched from Elfsborg to the French Ligue 1 outfit in the summer, has yet to make his debut for the West African football heavyweights despite earning his maiden call-up in November 2024.

The 24-year-old defender earned a late call-up for the final round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger following an impressive performance at club level.

As the Black Stars gear up for the global showpiece next year, the former Black Meteors centre-back has vowed to fight for a place in the Black Stars squad.

“My target is to help Metz stay in Ligue 1 and be in the national team. Hopefully, I’ll be part of the next call-up or maybe even the World Cup squad. I just need to keep pushing,” he told Flashscore in an interview.

The 24-year-old defender joined the French outfit in the summer transfer window on the back of his scintillating performance for IF Elfsborg, signing a four deal that will keep him at the club until summer 2029.

He had spells with West African Football Academy and Vision FC before departing Ghana for greener pastures.

Born in Akatsi in the Volta Region of Ghana, Yegbe began his European adventure in 2022 with a loan move to Finnish side SJK Seinajoki.

His commanding performances earned him a switch to Sweden, joining IF Elfsborg, where he made 40 appearances, scoring four goals and impressing with his aerial ability and ball distribution.

Yegbe has become a mainstay at FC Metz, making eight appearances in the French Ligue 1 this season.
