Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Deputy Minister of Defence, has issued a firm and candid caution to all Ghana Armed Forces personnel, emphasising the need for discipline, professionalism and respect for the rule of law both on and off duty.
In a strongly worded address at the 2025 Military Land Combat Fire Power Demonstration at Bundase on Friday, October 31, 2025, he reminded soldiers and officers of their duty to uphold the highest standards of conduct, stating, “Every soldier and officer is expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct, respect the rule of law and safeguard the rights of all citizens whether on duty or off duty.”
The statement comes amid growing concerns about isolated incidents that have threatened to tarnish the image of the military.

Genfi further warned that any actions bringing the reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces into disrepute would be met with decisive consequences.
“Any actions that bring the image of our revered Ghana Armed Forces into disrepute will be dealt with decisively, in accordance with the regulations of the Ghana Armed Forces and the laws of the Republic,” he said.
He concluded with a rallying call for continued service rooted in integrity, “Let us continue to serve with honour, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty.”
