Residents in the Santasi area and across Kumasi are witnessing a alarming scene this afternoon as a significant fire has engulfed the China City Mall, located near the busy Santasi roundabout.

Thick, dark plumes of smoke are visible from miles away, drawing widespread attention and concern on social media. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown.

    Emergency Response in Full Force

According to eyewitnesses and initial reports, a swift and substantial emergency response is underway. Multiple fire tenders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are at the scene, with firefighters actively battling the flames to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Police and other emergency service units are also present, managing traffic and securing the perimeter to ensure public safety.

    Location and Impact

China City Mall is a well-known commercial hub in the area, housing numerous shops, offices, and warehouses. The scale of the fire suggests potential for significant property damage. At this early stage, it is unclear if there were any people inside the building when the fire started, and there has been no official word on casualties.

The fire is also causing major disruptions to traffic in the Santasi area, a key transit point in Kumasi. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the vicinity to allow clear passage for emergency vehicles.
