    With emotions high over Daddy Lumba’s funeral dispute, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu Banahene, the late musician’s family head, has cautioned journalists, bloggers, and media personalities to stop insulting him in their reports.

    Speaking to the media after the Kumasi High Court on October 28, 2025, dismissed an injunction application that sought to halt the final funeral rites, he expressed disappointment over the lack of respect from some sections of the media.

    “I’m not happy at all. Some of these young media people insult me every day because of this funeral matter. I can give birth to some of them, yet they speak without respect. They should stop insulting an old man who is a head of a family,” he said.

    The head of the Fosu family also declared that the family will go ahead with their plans for the Highlife legend’s funeral, insisting that no individual has the authority to override the funeral.

    Owusu Banahene said the Kumasi High Court’s ruling had cleared the path for the family to proceed with their arrangements.

    “The court has given us the go-ahead to organise the funeral. I will be going home to have a meeting with my family. We will do whatever we want to do. Nobody has any authority over the funeral apart from what the family head will say,” he stated.

    His comments followed a Kumasi High Court’s dismissal of an injunction application filed by Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, who had sought to halt the funeral.

    The injunction, filed against the late singer’s partner, Odo Broni, family head Kofi Owusu Banahene, and Transitions Funeral Home, alleged that Akosua Serwaa had been sidelined from the funeral planning and only learned about the scheduled date through social media.
