Counsels for the two widows of the late Highlife icon Daddy Lumba have been spotted arriving at the Kumasi High Court for the second day of court proceedings.

The legal dispute is between Akosua Serwaa, the legally married wife of Daddy Lumba, and Priscilla “Odo Broni” Ofori, each claiming rights to the legacy of the late highlife legend.

The parties first clashed in court on October 16, 2025, but the case was adjourned after the defence challenged Akosua Serwaa’s legal capacity.

Videos making waves across social media showed the counsel for Akosua Serwaa holding documents and speaking quietly with his client as they made their way to court. Evangelist Papa Shee and Ernestina Fosu, sister of Daddy Lumba, were also spotted arriving at the premises.

On the opposite side, counsel for Odo Broni and defendants, including Lumba’s family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, also made their entrance.

Akosua Serwaa’s Injunction: Why the court adjourned the case

    What’s Being Argued?

    1. Legal Standing of Akosua Serwaa

The main preliminary issue before the court is whether Akosua Serwaa has the legal capacity (standing) to bring claims as the lawful wife. One of the defendants has filed a motion challenging her role, arguing that certain events may have nullified her claim.

The judge, Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur, had previously held off on ruling on that objection until all sides were heard.

    2. Injunction Over Funeral Arrangements

Serwaa’s team is pressing for an injunction to restrain Odo Broni, the family head, and funeral planners from proceeding with rites or decisions that exclude her. She contends that she was sidelined in the funeral planning and asserts she is the only legally recognised spouse.

Daddy Lumba’s funeral rites are scheduled for December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, although the final plan may depend on today’s outcome.

Voices from well-wishers and colleagues had previously encouraged the parties to explore alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including settlement, as a pathway to avoid further public spectacle.
