Ghanaian singer and TV personality, Akosua Agyapong, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a strong and inspiring woman who empowered many through her work and passion for the arts.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on October 27, 2025, Akosua Agyapong recounted her fond memories with the former First Lady.

“In 1997, we met during the inauguration of the president. I was even pregnant by then, carrying my 2nd boy, and then I trained 60 children from 7 grades. The late Ebony was part of the children I trained during the inauguration,” she said.

Akosua Agyapong expressed shock upon hearing of Nana Konadu’s death, explaining that she had hoped to meet her at a friend’s engagement just a few days earlier.

“I was surprised when I heard the news because last week Thursday, I was supposed to have met her at a friend’s engagement. She went but I couldn’t because I was in Koforidua. So I went there on Sunday and I was told that she was around and she danced. She loved dancing and she was a very strong woman” she stated.

The veteran musician praised Nana Konadu’s legacy, particularly her role in advocating for women through the 31st December Women’s Movement, which she described as a ground-breaking initiative that changed the lives of many Ghanaian women.

“We’ve lost a great woman, a woman who actually made women strong. She came up with the 31st December women’s movement and that was something else for women. We really going to miss her and may her soul rest in peace” she shared.

She also highlighted the late First Lady’s love for the creative arts, noting that she often supported entertainment events whenever she was available.

“She loved the creative arts, everything entertainment and showbiz. When she’s invited to a program and she’s available, she would always show up.”
