Prophet Nicholas Osei, widely known as Prophet Kumchacha, has reignited conversation about marriage, questioning the biblical foundation of monogamy.
During a discussion on United Showbiz on October 26, 2025, the controversial preacher declared that he has no faith in what is often referred to as an ordained or “white wedding.”
He argued that monogamous marriage, which binds a man to one woman, has no basis in scripture and was instead imposed on Africans through foreign influence. Kumchacha maintained that such practices do not reflect African traditions, insisting that he would prefer to marry more than one wife.
“I have said this before, I support a man who marries two wives. Which pastor can quote a scripture from Genesis to Revelation to tell me that it is a sin to marry more than one wife? There is no scripture like that,” he stated.
The prophet also claimed that the institution of marriage, as conducted in church settings, is not of divine origin and therefore does not apply to him.
According to Kumchacha, most couples who embrace what he calls the “white man’s style” of marriage are facing serious difficulties.
“There is nothing like a wedding in the Bible, and there is no way I would do a wedding because it is not in the Bible. If you check the statistics well, you’ll see that about 80% of men who marry using the white man’s style are on drugs, praying for healing. Also, out of 200 men, about 185 are having extramarital affairs,” he claimed.
He further estimated that nearly 80 percent of marriages conducted through Western customs are plagued by unhappiness and infidelity.
