Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has taken to social media in tears, recounting a disturbing encounter with operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force while engaging in a charitable act in Lagos.

In a video shared online, she tearfully narrated how she was harassed, bullied, and allegedly assaulted by KAI officers while preparing free food for individuals on the streets of Lagos.

According to her, the incident took place while she was cooking healthy meals on a street in Lekki, Lagos, which was meant to be distributed at no cost to the homeless.

The officers seized her equipment, including a gas cylinder and pots of food, and allegedly splashed hot oil on her in the process.

Sarah Martin’s story quickly went viral, drawing both sympathy and outrage from fans and internet users online.

Responding to the video, Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, confirmed the incident but offered a different narrative.

    “KEEP LAGOS CLEAN.
This lady claims she is ‘cooking for charity’ and she is using the median around Admiralty, Lekki Phase 1 as her ‘kitchen’.
The KAI officials have arrested her with all her equipment and cleaned up the whole axis.”
    He wrote in a tweet.

While the government has not directly addressed the allegation of physical assault or the reported splashing of hot oil, Gawat’s statement indicates the state’s concern with maintaining environmental sanitation and order, especially in high-traffic areas like Admiralty Road.

Many users have questioned why the actress wasn’t warned first by the Lagos State Government, rather they choosing to shut her down forcefully.
