Former Okaikwei South Member of Parliament (MP), Nana Akomea, has called on delegates of the party to elect someone who is not boastful, arrogant, or divisive in speech to lead the party as flagbearer in the 2028 elections.

Speaking during the second day of Dr Bawumia’s ‘Our Journey Together’ tour in the Bono East Region at Yeji in the Pru East Constituency, Nana Akomea said a leader with such qualities can unify the ranks of the party and lead them to victory in the 2028 elections.

“We [NPP] need a leader who is not boastful, arrogant, or divisive in speech because an arrogant person becomes worse when given power,” he said.

The former Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC) charged delegates, when electing a flagbearer, to consider someone who remains humble and cannot easily be corrupted by political power.

“Dr Bawumia has served as Vice President for eight years and yet remains humble,” he added.

This attribute of the former vice president, he continued, remains unmatched by any of the four other aspirants in the flagbearership race.

To this end, he argued that there is no reason for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to replace the former vice president as its flagbearer, insisting that his experience and leadership record make him the best candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.

“When it comes to experience, Dr Bawumia is a champion, and there is no need to replace him. One important quality to look out for in a leader of our party is good character — someone who remains approachable even after being elected president,” he said.
