The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced the full restoration of electricity supply to all areas affected by the recent damage to the 161kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line.

In a statement issued on Thursday October 16, 2025, the Ministry said power was successfully restored at 13:22 hours following intensive repair works led by technical teams from the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).

The Ministry expressed gratitude to residents and businesses in the affected regions for their patience and cooperation during the outage period.

“We wish to thank the public, particularly residents and businesses in the Western and Ashanti Regions, especially Tarkwa and Kumasi, for their patience, support, and cooperation during the repair period,” the statement said.

It also commended the efforts of the engineers and supporting agencies who worked around the clock to restore the damaged line.

“The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation to the technical team from GRIDCo and all other supporting agencies who worked tirelessly and under pressure to restore the line within the shortest possible time,” it added.

Reaffirming its dedication to energy reliability, the Ministry assured Ghanaians of continued collaboration with sector stakeholders to enhance system stability.

“The Ministry remains committed to delivering reliable power transmission and will continue working with power sector players to ensure a stable and efficient supply of electricity across the country,” it concluded.
