Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo has opened up about how he handles public criticism and media scrutiny, revealing that he deliberately avoids reading football-related news in Ghana.

The 50-year-old, who has faced intense pressure in recent months over team performances, said he prefers to stay away from the constant commentary that surrounds his job.

In an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey, Otto Addo explained that while he keeps up with general news, he intentionally skips football stories.

“I don’t read too much. I don’t think it’s healthy to do, especially in Ghana. I read news but not news about football,” he said.

The former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach added that even though friends frequently send him reports and online posts, he rarely engages with them because of misinformation.

“Friends send me lots of things, and at the end sometimes you don’t know if it’s true or not,” he added.

Otto Addo recently made history by becoming the first Ghanaian coach to qualify the Black Stars for two FIFA World Cups after guiding them to the 2026 World Cup.
