Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has disclosed that he received advice and encouragement from Ghana’s former coach, Kwasi Appiah, describing the Sudan boss as a man of great humility and class.

In an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey, Otto Addo recounted how his interactions with Appiah left a lasting impression, particularly after their teams met in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Appiah’s Sudan side defeated Ghana.

“Actually, yes, when we played against them. But before we spoke to each other, I met him once at the airport. He’s a really calm guy, a guy with class, and even when they won against us, he was down to earth.”

“He gave me some good words, and I really like him as a person and as a coach. These are the guys I like to learn from,” he said.

Otto Addo added that he values the relationship he shares with Kwasi Appiah and respects his achievements both as a player and as a coach.

Kwasi Appiah, who led Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, has rebuilt his coaching career with the Sudan national team.

His recent victory over Ghana was seen as a symbolic moment, but Addo insists there is no rivalry, only mutual respect and inspiration between two generations of Ghanaian coaches.
