- Roosters star married wife Chloe in May this year
NRL star Angus Crichton has literally fallen off his chair after discovering he’s going to be a father in a heartwarming surprise reveal orchestrated by his wife Chloe.
The Roosters, NSW and Kangaroos forward and Chloe joined in the online trend that sees couples paint portraits of each other before revealing them to their partner, with both of them posting a video of the results to Instagram.
Angus shows her his painting, but when it’s time for him to see the results of her efforts, he turns the canvas around to see the words, ‘i am with child’ with a love heart.
A delighted Crichton drops the painting in shock and covers his face before sliding off the chair and onto the floor while Chloe touches his face.
The video then shows him posing with his wife, looking at the pregnancy tests she’d taken, before the footage closes with vision of the unborn baby on an ultrasound.
Crichton’s teammates and their partners were quick to send on their congratulations, with James Tedesco’s wife Maria, halfback Sam Walker, the Roosters club, NRLW star Jessica Sergis and former Storm player turned radio star Cooper Johns all posting messages.

The couple had a star-studded guest list for their wedding in May, which saw them tie the knot in a lavish ceremony at the Krinklewood Estate in the Hunter Valley region of NSW.
Their nuptials were attended by some of the biggest names in footy, including Crichton’s teammates Connor Watson, Tedesco, Victor Radley and Spencer Leniu, as well as former Roosters stars Boyd Cordner and Dylan Napa.
Crichton confirmed their romance for the first time when he was photographed kissing his partner goodbye outside the NSW team hotel just before a State of Origin match in June last year.
Prior to that, he had shared photos of her on social media, but their relationship status remained unclear.
The couple announced their engagement in December 2024, capping off what was an incredible year for the footy star.
The second-rower dropped down on one knee and popped the question outside the iconic Midland Hotel in Manchester during a romantic trip to the United Kingdom in the off-season.
‘Cannot wait to make you my wife,’ Crichton wrote on Instagram as he shared the moment with his 94,000 followers, family and friends.
Chloe had been holding a takeaway coffee at the time and looked shocked, saying: ‘No you’re not! Oh my god!’

Crichton split from his Olympian girlfriend Morgan Mitchell in 2022 before facing mental health challenges in 2023 that meant he had to spend a long spell away from footy.
Just before the start of the 2024 NRL season, Crichton opened up about his time in a French psychiatric facility at the close of 2022 and his continued struggles with mental health when he returned home.
He fully recovered and had an incredible 2024 season, earning an extended deal with the Roosters worth an estimated $800,000 a year and winning the Wally Lewis Medal as the best player in the Origin series, as well as the Brad Fittler Medal as the top star for NSW.
Crichton has also been named in the Kangaroos squad to face England in the Ashes, which begin at London’s Wembley Stadium on October 26.
