The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced that Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali in September generated approximately GH¢1.46 million in gate proceeds.

NSA Director-General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah disclosed the figures during a press briefing ahead of Sunday’s crucial qualifier against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, where the Black Stars need just a point to seal World Cup qualification.

According to Ankrah, 80% of the proceeds from the Mali game have been allocated to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, while the NSA will keep the remaining 20%.

However, the Authority’s share was reduced after mandatory deductions covering taxes, pitch maintenance, staff allowances, security, and medical services.

He described the figure as encouraging, given that the stadium operated below full capacity for the Mali fixture. Only about 26,000 fans were admitted, as a section of the stadium was closed for maintenance.

With repairs now completed, the Accra Sports Stadium will welcome up to 35,000 supporters for Sunday’s clash against Comoros, a move the NSA expects will significantly boost revenue.
