The GBA will host a one-night amateur boxing in Accra The GBA will host a one-night amateur boxing in Accra

Ghana’s boxing scene is set for another thrilling international showcase as the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) prepares to host a one-night amateur boxing bout between Ghana and France at the Accra Sports Stadium’s Haramani Hall on October 18, 2025.

The highly anticipated event will feature Ghana’s elite and youth national teams, the Black Bombers and Black Rockets, squaring off against fighters from France’s Boxing Club Drovais.

Scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the international bout promises an evening of top-tier amateur boxing and cultural exchange.

According to the GBF, the contest will serve as an important test of strength and readiness for the national teams ahead of major competitions, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Africa Youth Olympic Games in Luanda later this year.

EXPLAINER: Why FIFA hasn’t confirmed Ghana’s qualification yet

Despite the short notice, the Federation says it accepted the French challenge to give local boxers the exposure and competition they need on their road to global tournaments.

The GBF has also appealed for logistical and financial support to ensure a successful hosting.

Beyond the punches and pride, officials believe the bout will deepen Ghana’s sporting and cultural ties with France, opening doors for future technical cooperation and social exchanges.
