Former Black Stars, captain Asamoah Gyan has stated that some foreign-based players need time to settle into the national team due to their recent struggles.

According to him, these players train regularly with their respective clubs, allowing them to adapt to playing styles and tactics more easily contributing to their success at club level.

However, the situation is different with the national team, where players only meet for short periods, limiting their ability to build chemistry and adapt quickly.

Black Stars predicted starting XI against Central African Republic

“When you talk about the club side, we have the same players training week in, week out. They know each other’s characteristics and style. But when it comes to the national team, although they see each other sometimes, there are often changes. It’s not like a team that’s been together for a long time.

“So, club football and national team football are very different. At the club, players train every day, every week. That’s the most difficult part of playing for the national team. At the club level, some players who feature in the national team don’t even play regularly,” Gyan told TV3 when asked about the struggles of foreign players in the team.

Gyan also called on Ghanaians to be patience with these players because they will eventually deliver.

“They are different kinds of players altogether. Your question is a bit dicey. Sometimes, I don’t understand why it happens like that. But I’m sure that when they keep playing together consistently, they’ll regain their confidence and perform well as a unit,” he said.

His comments were in reference to players like Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams, who have struggled to replicate their club form in the Black Stars.
