A Former Energy Minister, Engineer Dr Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has explained his reasons to contest for the chairmanship position of the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, his desire to help restore the Party’s identity, unity and win social trust motivated the decision.

“If I should ask the party what their beliefs are, you will struggle to get a concrete answer, so I believe it’s time to lead the party with a mindset where all members are treated fairly and with justice,” he said.

“This will bring back the Party’s good identity and restore unity.”

The NPP stalwart said this in an interview with Dr Cash on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show Dwabrem on Wednesday October 1, 2025.

Dr Agyarko noted he was ready to lead new reforms for the party to ensure it thrives and wins the 2028 polls.

With his vision for the party, Dr Agyarko aims to bring about a new era of unity and progress within the NPP.

Dr Agyarko’s bid for the NPP chairmanship is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the party’s leadership.
