    Asante Kotoko will face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup after eliminating Nigeria’s Kwara United.

    The Porcupine Warriors advanced with a 5-3 aggregate victory, securing a hard-fought 1-0 win in Abeokuta on Sunday to add to their thrilling 4-3 triumph from the first leg in Kumasi.

    Hubert Gyau’s strike proved decisive as Kotoko maintained their discipline to progress.

    Their next test is against Wydad, one of Africa’s most successful clubs. The Casablanca-based side are three-time winners of the CAF Champions League and were participants in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup earlier this year.

    Kotoko, meanwhile, have twice lifted the Champions League crown but, like their upcoming opponents, are yet to win the Confederation Cup.

    The two clubs bring pedigree and quality to what promises to be one of the competition’s standout ties. Kotoko will host the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi before travelling to Morocco for the decisive return fixture in October.

    The clash offers Kotoko a chance to test themselves against elite opposition as they chase continental success.
