At just eleven years old, Mamzelle Fleurranda is breaking boundaries and rewriting the narrative of sports photography in Cameroon.

While most children her age are chasing footballs on school playgrounds, Fleurranda is chasing moments, freezing them forever through the lens of her camera.

She made headlines as the youngest photographer on the sidelines during Cameroon’s victory over Eswatini at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on September 4, 2025. Since then, she has become an unmissable presence whenever the Indomitable Lions play.

Her photography journey began at home. The daughter of renowned photographer Nick Lionel Kendji, Fleurranda practically grew up in her father’s studio, surrounded by flashes, lenses, and editing screens.

D K Poison’s historic title and $45,000 loan to government lingers on after 50 years

In 2019, Kendji placed a camera in her hands, and what started as a playful curiosity soon turned into a remarkable talent. Within three years, her images had already been published, and she was working alongside her father at major football events.

By nine, she was already drawing attention during the Cameroon–Burundi clash, where even the Indomitable Lions themselves jostled to take pictures with her.

Today, her photographs are shared widely on social media by football fans, celebrities, and even prominent figures such as Samuel Eto’o, Francis Ngannou, and Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya.

Despite the growing fame, Fleurranda remains grounded.

“I don’t think I’m a star. It bothers me. I prefer to be hidden,” she confessed in an interview with Brut Afrique.

Technically, she works like a seasoned professional. From adjusting her 70-200mm lens to selecting the perfect angle, she explains her choices with a confidence that rivals photographers decades older.

For her, the magic lies in “careful framing, just the right light, and zero blurred movements.”

Yet beyond her present success, Fleurranda dreams big: covering the Africa Cup of Nations, traveling the world, and refining her craft with specialised training.

With her passion and discipline, she isn’t just capturing football history; she’s becoming part of it.
