    Controversial Nigerian social media influencer Daniel Regha has criticized the singer Adekunle Gold for his choice of outfit to the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

    Adekunle Gold, who had made headlines for proudly representing Afrobeats at the prestigious 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, had received praises for his presence at the international event, but Daniel Regha thought otherwise.

    In a tweet shared on X (Twitter), Daniel Regha called out the singer for missing out on the opportunity to promote African heritage at the event.

    He suggested that the ‘Coco Money’ crooner could have worn a culturally inspired outfit, even if it was a modern suit made from traditional fabrics.

    Adding that, Public figures need to do better in utilizing their platforms to represent and celebrate Nigerian and African culture.

    His tweet read;

    “Adekunle Gold could’ve used the Ballon d’Or ceremony to promote the Nigerian or African heritage by wearing a culturally inspired outfit, even if it’s a suit made with native fabrics. Our public figures need to do better.”

    While some internet users agreed with his statement, others faulted him for always having an opinion on everything.

    Below are some of the comments;

    “African pride is not only in the fabric. His presence and talent already put Nigeria on that stage. He can wear what he wants and still be 100% Nigerian. Culture is deeper than clothes.”

    “When you traveled why didn’t you wear traditional attire to promote Nigerian culture. Oga rest juur”

    “Imagine AG Baby stepping out in full agbada at Ballon d’Or, fashion headlines go scatter”
