The 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship officially got underway on Saturday, September 20, with a ceremonial kick-off led by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

President Simeon-Okraku was joined by Nii Sarpei, Programmes Manager of the KGL Foundation, as coaches, young footballers, and dignitaries gathered to launch what has become one of Ghana’s premier youth football competitions.

Spanning nine action-packed days, this year’s tournament features an expanded roster of 12 teams, bringing together U-17 selections from all ten Regional Football Associations alongside the GFA Elite Academies representing the Northern Region and Greater Accra.

Over the past four years, the KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship has established itself as a proving ground for emerging talent, with numerous alumni progressing to Ghana’s junior national teams, excelling in domestic leagues, and securing opportunities with professional clubs abroad.

The KGL Foundation’s ongoing collaboration with the Ghana Football Association underscores their joint commitment to youth development and grassroots football.

Through competitive matches and nationwide scouting opportunities, the championship plays a vital role in discovering and nurturing Ghana’s next generation of football stars.
