Ghana's 4x100 relay team have booked a spot in the final at the Athletics meet Ghana’s 4×100 relay team have booked a spot in the final at the Athletics meet

Ghana defied the odds to qualify for the men’s 4×100 Relay final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, setting a new national record of 37.79 seconds.

The keenly contested race began with Ibrahim Fuseini delivering an impressive run and successfully passing the baton to Benjamin Azamati, who maintained the momentum to keep Ghana among the leaders.

Joseph Paul Amoah took over and widened the gap between Ghana and its competitors, smoothly handing over to Rasheed Saminu, whose splendid sprint sealed the first-place finish in grand style.

BREAKING: Ghana qualifies for 4×100 relay final at World Athletics Championships

Ghana placed first with a time of 37.79 seconds, followed by the Netherlands with 37.95 seconds, while host nation Japan finished third with 38.07 seconds.

Saminu, who missed out on the 100m final, will be looking to redeem himself by helping the team secure a medal in the final.

This record comes as a huge relief for Ghana’s 4×100 relay team, which has faced challenges with baton exchanges in previous championships and Olympic Games.

The team is now preparing for the final on September 21, 2025, where their medal hopes will be decided.
