Manchester City have fired a staff member over jersey controversy Manchester City have fired a staff member over jersey controversy

Premier League giants Manchester City have dismissed a staff member who wore a Manchester United replica jersey to work during the derby game on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

According to Daily Mail, the staff member, whose identity has not been revealed, was a stadium bartender who wore United’s away jersey for the 2018-2019 season while serving drinks.

While serving fans at the Etihad Stadium during the game, one Manchester City supporter noticed the jersey and complained about it on X, saying, “Absolute joke. Letting one of the bar staff in block 315 wear a United shirt on derby day.”

In response to the fan’s tweet on X, the club wrote, “Thank you for making us aware of this. We can confirm that this individual has now been removed from their position.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City defeated the Red Devils 3-0, easing pressure on the team after their poor start to the season.
