THE National Chairman of the International Prison Chaplains Association, Ghana (IPCA Ghana), Rev. Stephen Mensah, has cautioned students against getting involved in violent demonstrations.

He warned that not only could that unruly behaviour lead to the destruction of school property but also land them in jail.

Rev. Mensah made the call at the maiden Central Regional (C/R) anti-crime talk, organised by IPCA-Ghana for students of St. Augustine’s School in Cape Coast

IPCA-Ghana has already organised similar engagements in selected schools in other regions across the country as part of its mandate towards reaching the youth with information.

Topics treated during the talk included: “Keeping Away from Illicit Drugs,” “Maintaining a Good Character while in School” and “What Sends Young People to Jail and Why They Must be Avoided”.

Rev. Mensah explained that the high number of youth in illicit activities was a great concern towards promoting peaceful coexistence in the country.

“Recent happenings in schools give indications that this anti-crime talk is very relevant in the country, and the Ghana Education Service (GES) has given its support to our commitment in engaging the students in the various educational institutions,” he stated.
