Gyakie is the daughter of Highlife legend, Nana Acheampong
Daughter of Highlife legend Nana Acheampong, singer Gyakie, has disclosed that the passing of Daddy Lumba has affected her father.
Nana Acheampong and Daddy Lumba share a history that goes back to the late 1980s when they both lived in Germany.
The two formed the famous Lumba Brothers group, and in 1989, they released their debut album, ‘Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu.’

In an interview with Andy Dosty, Gyakie explained that her father has been struggling to process the news. She said the loss has taken a toll on him, but their family has been there to support him through this difficult time.
When asked if she had spoken to her father since the passing, Gyakie confirmed that they have been in conversation. She indicated that since Nana Acheampong was out of the country, she represented him at Daddy Lumba’s one-week observation, held on August 30 at Independence Square.

“Yes, we’ve been in conversations before, during, and after it happened. I went for the one week; he’s not in the country at the moment, so it was only right that even if he wouldn’t be there, I represent, so I ended up going.
“It really did take a toll on him; it took a huge… He’s still trying to process the whole thing. Because this is somebody that’s been from the beginning of their career and all that, so it’s really been heavy for him, but the family has been there and we’ve been supportive with him,” Gyakie stated.
