DKB has dismissed plans for an upcoming anti-galamsey demonstration, arguing that the protest is unnecessary and urging Ghanaians to put their trust in President John Mahama’s pledge to address illegal mining.

In a video shared on social media, DKB recalled how Mahama handled the energy crisis known as “dumsor,” insisting that the president had proven himself capable of tackling major national challenges. He said the same confidence should be extended to him on galamsey.

“Yo, this is my message to those who want to organise the anti-galamsey demonstration. Listen, when JM, President Mahama, tells you he is working on something, he is really working on it. He’s not like the others,” DKB said.

The comedian pointed to Mahama’s intervention during dumsor, when public pressure mounted and people staged demonstrations. According to him, the president responded with decisive action that eventually restored stable electricity across the country.

“I remember the Dumsor video. He said he was working on the Dumsor. We thought he was playing, so we went to the demonstration. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the end, who solved Dumsor for us? This year, 9 months, not a single night or day of darkness,” he recounted.

DKB added that protests were not necessary since Mahama had shown he could deliver on promises without being forced. “You understand? So if JM says he’s working on it, he is working on it. He is not lying. He doesn’t do Chandam and Vandam. But if you insist, I want to inform you that if you insist on doing the anti-galamsey demonstration, don’t panic.”

He further stressed that Mahama respected democratic expression and would not obstruct anyone who wished to demonstrate.

“JM practises democracy. He doesn’t fear demonstration. He sees it as a form of expression. Do you know what? When we were going to the dumsor demonstration, the day of the demonstration, he came to fix street lights for us so that we would not fall into a gutter,” DKB said.

He lightheartedly suggested that anyone joining a future protest might even be entertained. “Imagine! So, you that you want to do your anti-galamsey demonstration, just know that the day of your demonstration, he will organise sound system and brass band for you, for you to enjoy yourself. He will come and share free water.”
