The former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Portuphy, has been absent from public life for an extended period, sparking widespread concern and speculation about his well-being.
Reports now reveal a harrowing decline in his health, stemming from what initially appeared to be a minor seasonal illness.
Portuphy’s health troubles began in June 2023 when he exhibited persistent coughing and fatigue.
While doctors initially assured him of a speedy recovery, his family became increasingly alarmed by the severity of his symptoms.
Their insistence on seeking more comprehensive medical attention led to a series of tests and diagnoses.
By December 2023, Portuphy’s condition had deteriorated significantly.
He was no longer able to respond to phone calls or emails, prompting growing anxiety among his loved ones and associates.
A source close to the family disclosed that Portuphy is now bedridden and receiving intensive care.
Kofi Portuphy, a founding member of the NDC, has played a pivotal role in Ghanaian politics.
He served as the first national coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and was elected National Chairman of the NDC in 2014.
As Portuphy continues to battle his illness, his family and supporters are hopeful for a positive outcome.
The situation remains critical, and updates on his condition will be provided as they become available.
