Surgeon who cheered Charlie Kirk murder ousted from his job…as nurse punished for exposing him is REINSTATED: Live updates

By RACHEL BOWMAN, US NEWS REPORTER

    Updated: 14:32 EDT, 15 September 2025

A New Jersey surgeon who said Charlie Kirk ‘had it coming’ has resigned — and the nurse suspended for calling him out has been reinstated.

When the news of Kirk’s death broke, Lexi Kuenzle, a 33-year-old healthcare worker at Englewood Health, said that general surgeon Dr. Matthew Jung proclaimed: ‘I hate Charlie Kirk. He had it coming. He deserved it.’

After reporting Jung and posting about the incident on social media, Kuenzle said she was suspended without pay pending an investigation.

But today, Englewood Health revealed there had been a twist in the saga.

‘We have accepted the physician’s resignation,’ a representative from Englewood Health told the New York Post.

As for Kuenzle, the representative said ‘The nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts. The nurse was never fired.’

Dozens of professionals across the country have lost their jobs after making controversial posts about the MAGA star’s death, including a neurologist and a pediatric nurse.

Kirk, a devout Christian and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday in a targeted political attack that shocked the nation.

Lexi Kuenzle, a 33-year-old healthcare worker at Englewood Health, said that when news of Kirk’s murder broke, general surgeon Dr. Matthew Jung proclaimed: ‘I hate Charlie Kirk. He had it coming. He deserved it.’

She claimed that after reporting Jung’s comments and posting about the incident on social media, she was told she was suspended without pay pending an investigation.

On Monday, Englewood Health confirmed to the New York Post that Jung had quit.

‘We have accepted the physician’s resignation,’ a representative from Englewood Health told The New York Post.

The representative denied that Kuenzle was ever fired or suspended without pay.

‘The nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts,’ the representative said. ‘The nurse was never fired; was never told she would be fired by Englewood Hospital; and will not miss any pay as part of our review of this matter.’

The representative added, ‘Englewood Health is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all.’

Florida neurologist fired for suggesting Kirk had it coming

Dr. Michelle Bravo, 34, a former neurologist at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, was fired on Saturday for sharing a post mocking Kirk’s death.

She said the chickens had ‘come home to roost’, in reference to Kirk’s support of Israel’s war in Gaza.

Bravo’s post, shared by the account StopAntisemitism, said, ‘What was done to Charlie Kirk has been done to countless Palestinian babies, children, girls, boys, women and men not just over the past two years of the ongoing genocide, but decades.

‘And whenever it happened, and it’s on camera and we all saw it, Charlie Kirk came out to say: “I love this, I want more of this. The people who did this are great and I love them and they should keep doing it forever.” As Malcom said, the chickens have come home to roost.’

The university released a statement condemning her post and confirming her termination.

‘The University of Miami regrets unacceptable public commentary made by one of our employees. This individual is no longer employed by our institution,’ the school said.

‘Freedom of speech is a fundamental right. At the same time, expressions that condone or endorse violence or are incompatible with our policies and values are not acceptable.

‘We remain dedicated to providing a safe, respectful environment for all and to advancing our mission of education, patient care, discovery and service.’

A since-deleted profile for Bravo on the university’s website listed her specialties as headache medicine and neurology.

Neurologists at the University of Miami earn an average salary of $82,161 per year, according to Indeed.

The school is located in Miami-Dade County, which experienced a red wave in November when Donald Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate to win the county in 36 years, according to NBC 6.

Texas pastor claims Kirk was ‘murdered, not assassinated’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglass Haynes III, claimed Charlie Kirk was ‘murdered, not assassinated’ and should not be compared to Martin Luther King Jr.

‘The sad thing is, we live in a nation where twisted, toxic theology is poisoning the politics of this nation,’ Haynes said at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas on Sunday.

‘Have you thought about the fact that this week in Utah, a white “Christian” got killed by a white Christian, and the next day, HBCUs were under threat? Now, how’d we get in it? That’s called white on white crime.’

Haynes added, ‘A white Christian gets killed, murdered, not assassinated. Martin King got assassinated, Malcom X got assassinated… don’t compare Kirk to King.

‘Let me hasten to say, I’m anti-political violence. Kirk should still be alive. I don’t agree with anything Kirk said. What Kirk said was dangerous, what Kirk said was racist, rooted in white supremacy, nasty and hate-filled, but he still should be alive.

Secret Service agent on leave over vile Charlie Kirk race slur

A Secret Service agent has been placed on leave and is facing growing calls to be fired over his shocking comments about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Anthony Pough, a 36-year-old from Royersford, Pennsylvania, called the right-wing influencer’s death ‘karma’ in a now-deleted Facebook post.

‘If you are Mourning [sic] this guy .. delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show,’ the agent wrote in the post, first reported by RealClearPolitics.

‘Especially when we should be mourning the innocent children killed in Colorado,’ Pough said, referring to a shooting at Evergreen High School near Denver on the same day as Kirk’s death.

His comments sparked uproar and the Secret Service has now placed him on leave.

‘The US Secret Service will not tolerate behavior that violates our code of conduct,’ an agency spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Tennessee Senator Martha Blackburn, a Republican, is now calling for Pough to be fired.

Newsday removed the offending political illustration from all its platforms and acknowledged an ‘error in judgment’ after intense backlash from readers.

The cartoon depicted an empty blood-splattered chair under a tent labeled ‘Charlie Kirk.’ An arrow points upwards toward the seat with the caption ‘Turning Point USA,’ the non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Kirk.

The banner above the tent reads ‘prove me wrong’, which was Kirk’s slogan for his college campus political debate events.

The illustration was created by Pulitzer finalist illustrator Chip Bok, who has not responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow’s charitable foundation reportedly dismissed an advisory board member after he shared a number of social media posts appearing to celebrate the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Hamilton County Municipal Judge Ted Berry made a series of remarks in a Facebook thread, which appeared to welcome the death of the political commentator.

‘Rest in Hatred & Division!’ Berry first posted, replying to a Facebook memorial post for Kirk.

The judge doubled down after another social media user said that the United States was left divided over Kirk’s death but that they were open to learning more.

The Joe Burrow Foundation announced in a statement Friday night that an advisory board member had been dismissed from their position due to ‘inappropriate remarks.’ While the organization’s statement didn’t name Berry, FOX19 NOW reported that it was the judge who had been removed.

‘The Joe Burrow Foundation was founded on the belief that everyone has the responsibility to do good,’ the foundation said.

‘We have terminated an advisory board member that made inappropriate remarks in light of recent events and they are no longer associated with the foundation. Their comments do not reflect our values or our mission. We are committed to accountability and respect for all.’

Baptist pastor faces backlash over Kirk remarks during sermon

Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley slammed Donald Trump’s decision to lower the flags in honor of Charlie Kirk during his Sunday sermon.

Speaking to his congregation at Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, Wesley called Kirk an ‘unapologetic racist.’

‘I do not celebrate the killing of anyone. Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be assassinated. But I’m overwhelmed seeing the flags of the United States of America at half-staff, calling this nation to honor and venerate a man who was an unapologetic racist and spent all of his life sowing seeds of division and hate into this land,’ Wesley said.

‘And hearing people with selective rage who were mad about Charlie Kirk but didn’t give a damn about Melissa Hortman and her husband when they were shot down in their home, tell me I ought to have compassion for the death of a man who had no respect for my own life.

‘I am sorry, but there’s nowhere in the Bible where we are taught to honor evil, and how you die does not redeem how you lived. You do not become a hero in your death when you are a weapon of the enemy in your life.’

Conservative commentator slams Kirk fans trying to ‘cancel’ liberals

Conservative commentator Raquel Debono took to Instagram to question whether the right’s efforts to get political opponents fired from their jobs are ‘Christian’ or even consistent with conservative values.

Debono argued that it was not – and warned that conservatives indulging in this kind of ‘cancel culture‘ were in fact betraying their own principles.

‘I thought Republicans don’t like cancel culture? So why are you indulging in this cancel culture vibe?’ she said in a video message to her followers. ‘People on the right need to be stronger. We need to be better.’

Lexi Kuenzle, a 33-year-old healthcare worker at Englewood Health, said that the news broke while she stood by the nurse’s station, surrounded by eight other nurses and a patient resting on a stretcher, according to The New York Post.

Shocked, Kuenzle exclaimed, ‘Oh my God! That’s terrible! I love him!’

But what general surgeon Dr. Matthew Jung said next may have shocked the Hoboken resident even more.

In response, Jung allegedly proclaimed: ‘I hate Charlie Kirk. He had it coming. He deserved it.’

Captain Jacoby Williamson, who has worked in multiple positions with the Marines since 2013, sent out an Instagram snap showing an interview segment Kirk was doing called ‘DEI in the cockpit.’

‘Another racist man popped,’ Williamson captioned the post, adding the emoji of someone raising two beers for a toast.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Williamson’s firing and said that he’d be keeping an eye on any further incendiary comments.

‘It is unacceptable for military personnel and Department of War civilians to celebrate or mock the assassination of a fellow American,’ Hegseth wrote on X. ‘The Department of War has zero tolerance for it.’

Karen Attiah has been fired from The Washington Post over a series of posts she wrote following the murder of Charlie Kirk.

One read: ‘Part of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness and absolution for white men who espouse hatred and violence.’

Another of the posts, on social media platform Bluesky, said: ‘Refusing to tear my clothes and smear ashes on my face in performative mourning for a white man that espoused violence is…. not the same as violence.’

The journalist revealed her firing in a lengthy post on Substack on Monday, which she titled ‘The Washington Post Fired Me — But My Voice Will Not Be Silenced.’

Pediatric nurse fired for Kirk post saying ‘F**k his kids’

An employee at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was fired after multiple users on X called out a pediatric nurse for her vulgar comments over Kirk’s murder.

The post, which came from the now deleted account @givethemkiki, said, ‘”He has kids.” F**k his kids. F**k his ancestors, especially the b***h who birthed him.’

X user @Anc_Aesthetics identified the account holder as Kiara Harvey, who is a registered nurse in Georgia. Shortly after, all social media accounts linked to Harvey were taken down.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta confirmed an employee was fired for ‘inappropriate comments’ about Kirk’s killing on Saturday, reported 11 Alive.

‘Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is aware of inappropriate comments made on social media by an employee yesterday,’ the pediatric hospital said.

‘This type of rhetoric is not acceptable for Children’s employees and violates our social media policy. The employee has been terminated.’

The average salary for registered nurses at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is $82,367 per year, according to Indeed.
