    Published: 08:01 EDT, 12 September 2025 | Updated: 09:21 EDT, 12 September 2025

Left-wingers have been widely condemned for celebrating the fatal shooting of US conservative activist Charlie Kirk and using it to score political points.

The 31-year-old ally of Donald Trump was shot dead during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday in what authorities called a political assassination.

While the father-of-two’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes around the world, some liberals have gloated about the tragedy on social media and TV.

Incoming Oxford Union president George Abaraonye is among those involved in the row after reportedly sending messages appearing to celebrate Mr Kirk’s death.

Burnley Council councillor Fiona Wild posted on Facebook that Mr Kirk ‘brought this on himself’, with police later confirming her comments did not constitute a crime.

Now, as authorities identified the suspected gunman as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, you can vote in the Mail’s poll on whether the radical Left should accept some blame for Mr Kirk’s death.
