As a measure aimed at support year-round, reliable irrigation systems for farming activities in the northern parts of Ghana, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has announced that the government is revamping boreholes.

According to him, several of these underground water storage systems have been identified and will be renovated to serve as reliable sources of water to support irrigation.

The minister said this while speaking in an interview with Piesie Okrah on Dwaboase on TV XYZ, on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

“The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has identified several boreholes in the northern enclaves, which will be renovated and converted into irrigation systems to support farmers,” he stated.
