The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has cautioned parents and guardians not to pay money to anyone who promises to secure Senior High School (SHS) placements for their wards.

According to him, persons who attempt to solicit money to facilitate payment have to be forwarded to the police with no hesitation.

Illiteracy rate of 30.2% a worry but government committed to reducing it – Dr Apaak

“Placement is free. Do not pay money to anyone who claims he/she can help you with placement. Anyone who demands money in exchange for placement is a fraudster and should be reported to the police immediately,” Dr Apaak tweeted on X.

His warning comes at a time when families are awaiting the release of Senior High School placements for the 2025 candidates.

For many families, the period is often filled with both hopes and worries, as children look forward to continuing their education at the secondary level.

In a video accompanying his caution on X, a facilitator is seen walking interested persons through the placement process on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

It begins by directing parents or their wards to log on to the computerised placement online platform via www.cssps.gov.gh.

On the home page, they may choose from options including Choices Confirmation, Check Placement or Self Placement.

After the candidates have selected their preferred option, they log in with their index number and date of birth, which must be the same as the one provided during the BECE registration. If successful, they will gain access to the information they seek.

The two-minute video, which makes for easy understanding, is meant to guide parents and candidates nationwide who are not familiar with how to navigate their way on the placement portal.
