The Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, has urged former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to bring all aspirants on board following his decisive victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 presidential primaries.
Dr Afriye, who served in 2024 as the Middle Belt Campaign Coordinator for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, made the call while speaking on OTEC FM’s afternoon political talk show Dwabrem, hosted by Prince Nii Ardey, popularly known as Dr Cash, on Monday, September 8, 2025.

According to him, unity remains the surest path for the NPP to break the eight and secure victory in the 2026 general elections.
“Dr Bawumia has fought a good fight and secured a decisive win in the primaries. But this is just one step. The real task ahead is to unite the party and ensure that all aspirants, their supporters, and stakeholders feel part of the victory,” he stressed.

He explained that divisions after primaries have often weakened political parties in Ghana, a situation he believes the NPP cannot afford as it prepares for the 2026 elections.
“It is important that we reach out to everyone. All aspirants brought ideas, energy, and commitment to the race, and we must tap into that for the bigger battle ahead. This victory belongs to the entire NPP family, not only to Dr. Bawumia,” he added.
Dr Ayew Afriye further expressed confidence in the Vice President’s ability to rally the party around a common vision.
“Dr Bawumia has always been a unifier, and I am certain he will extend a hand of friendship to his contenders. That is the spirit we need to present a formidable front against the NDC in 2026,” he concluded.
